“Promise of life changing medicine.”

I recently attended a workshop on narrative writing – I’ll get into what narrative writing is in another post. One exercise at the workshop was to take a single line from an exert read aloud to us – and write. Just write whatever came to mind. The line I chose was: “Promise of life changing medicine.” Here is what unfolded in the 2 minutes of free-writing:

Lies to keep faith. People much smarter than me. Work that was done before the promise. False hopes. Hope for normalcy. A chance to live like it’s 2019. Can my kids have it yet? Don’t hurt my kids – or I’ll hurt you. How long will the medicine work for? Why don’t you believe in the promise? How can I make you believe in my promise? If I leave my “home” will I get sick from others who didn’t receive the promise?

When you read “promise of life changing medicine,” what pops into our head? No need for full sentences and proper grammar – obviously I didn’t follow any rules: )
